Committed to providing skin safety awareness to rural communities
This May and July, AGnVET RURAL teamed up with Skin Check Champions to bring free full-body skin checks to rural communities.
Skin Check Clinics
AGnVET RURAL branches were joined by nurse Kirra at Clermont, Emerald, Biloela, Moura, and Theodore. We were also joined by nurse Maria at our St George, Wee Waa, and Walgett branches. Big thanks to both nurses for their time, care, and support on the ground.

Skin Check Champions
Skin Check Champions are a non-profit organization promoting health and awareness for skin check safety in Australia. Dedicated to brining workplace skin checks to remote and rural communities across Australia. Skin Check Champions raise awareness for and access to early detection services, especially for communities most at risk of skin cancer. They have one mission; to win the race against skin cancer by early detection.
Skin Check Insights
Over 11 days of skin check clinics, the Skin Check Champion nurses completed a total of 247 full body skin checks. Here are some interesting insights from over these 11 days:
- 72 lesions imaged
- 4 potential melanomas identified
- 68 other skin cancers identified
Key findings:
- 85% of participants showed sun damage requiring treatment
- 65% had a prior history of skin cancer
